The Riksbank’s instant payments service, RIX-INST, which was only open for Swish payments until yesterday, is now open for other types of instant payments also, using the standard settlement model! All Swedish banks are mandated to be able to receive instant payments from RIX-INST, starting today, November 25, 2024! A new era of #instantpayments begins in Sweden!!! This new exciting infrastructure can bring in innovative products into the market as well as redefine existing payment flows. The major Swedish banks are adopting a wait and watch method initially and will only receive payments. This definitely exists in many other places, but working for the greater good, the budget tool is free AND easy to use. 💰 People who know me well, know that I find great pleasure spending my money, preferably fast! Realizing this 20 years ago, I started budgetizing my money, which has now expanded into a full-blown platform. The reason(s) for spending too much spare time on side projects like this? - I like building things - I like playing with new tech (ie. integrating AI into a budget 🤖) - I once received a budget Excel sheet from my former bank as part of a loan (Excel 🦖) - I once received a 2500 extra electricity bill for my summer house in December where I wasn't up there once. Hook my budget up to an API and warn me, will you? I will, eventually. The main motivation? Just building something useful for myself, and maybe others can find it useful too (but if you can reach one person) Anyway. There will never be a better time to get yourself a budget that is way more feature-rich than whatever spreadsheet you've knitted together. And it's free. Forever. Like Facebook. When I worked in Password Crypt we made a very great product for keeping passwords for customers and on enterprise level. And since that time it became even better :) I definetelly advice to visit the webinar of Benny Nissen about the IP security in the modern world.

Stop giving developers solutions! So many companies create “Epics” for developers to “do” that are expressed as a solution. This is so so bad. And arrogant. Invite your developers into your business domain and explain your problems. Then let them spend some time to find a solution and have them present it to you. Don’t correct the solution, expand your problem description if you want something changed. It’s like telling a mechanic how to fix your car instead of explaining the problem. You don’t to that do you?. The mechanic is the expert in the domain of the solution, and you are an expert in the domain of the problem. You know the noise it makes the mechanic knows how to fix it.

I've been giving talks about tech since 2016. My first talk was about docker at @ebay in Aarhus (Den blå avis) together with Johan Abildskov. I think it was his first public talk as well (correct me if i'm wrong Johan) and i was super nervous. There were 16 people in the room ! It was a great experience. Since then I started to give talks at meetups and eventually at conferences. I've organized Docker birthday events, Cloud Native events and a small conference as well. And i love being able to give back to the community that gave me so much. A small hint if you want to give talks. Keep your slides simple. When you feel they are to simple, make them even simpler. Managing time is difficult on stage, so the more information the audience sees, the more they see you miss or skip. Take this picture of a mailbox. You can talk for 2 min or 15 min about coupling/decoupling in software from that one picture, and people will listen to you instead of reading text. Maybe add a headline "Let's talk about coupling". It's much easier to manage time from a slide like this, and to tell a good story. I had so much fun at the Bergen Open Source conference (https://boskonf.no) yesterday. I got to hold a talk about #Bluesky and #ATProto, what I believe might be the future of federated social media in an Internet built on open standards. I was super inspired by Aurora Hofman and Caroline Winther's talk "Hvor er kvinnene?" about the lack of women in developer-focused roles, what the systemic and cultural causes of this could be, and what we as developers can do to rectify this imbalance. While creating teams with diverse representation is ultimately a leadership responsibility, we as developers can at least try to use our position to highlight the issue and use the research that shows diverse teams are happier as tool to force change in our own organizations. If you ever get the chance to hear them speak you definitely should go listen! Kent Inge Fagerland Simonsen, PhD's talk laid down the facts about how wasteful the way we package and distribute code is. I was mortified to learn just how many flights worth of CO2 emissions a single JavaScript package can cause when it is downloaded over 200 million times a week. I certainly walked away feeling a bit guilty. But we can fix this. Oskar Nyland talked us through open large language models' chance to win the AI race and what it will take to do so, and had a convincing argument as to why companies like Meta (Facebook) are hedging their bet on open models. It will be exciting to follow the space as the open models compete with closed models like ChatGPT. We also got a great walkthrough of packaging on Linux distros by Valentin David. I've not personally done development and releases for applications specific to GNU/Linux, but appreciate the complexity of releasing software due to shared C libraries and the way versioning and linking works. As a Ubuntu user I've witnessed the controversy of different packaging solutions and the many discussion and arguments online. But Valentin's final advice to release your software under as many packaging tools as possible, both as PPAs, archives (for official repositories), Flatpacks, Snaps, etc resonated with me and seems like great advice. All in all this was a great conference and I'd like to thank Sindre Kjelsrud and the other great people at friByte for hosting such a fun event.

During the interview with Jacob, Cristian Nicoara and myself explored key strategies and cultural aspects that shape the environment at e-conomic, driving continuous improvement: - the engineering performance is discussed regularly with the board. The SDOP/DORA metrics represent industry standards, a common language. - measure to improve and not to look good. This enables constructive and valuable discussions around prioritisation and more balanced investments. The adrenaline rush was there too, Visma's studio can be intimidating. It was great to share the space and we even continued our conversations in the canteen - can't miss the Thursday Waffles. SDOP (Software Delivery and Operational Performance) helps Visma companies outperform the industry on engineering performance with increased R&D efficiency and effectiveness.

As someone very interested and invested into #dotnet and #aspnet, I always looked at Blazor with interest. Those who know me or have stumbled upon my blog will now how allergic I am to everything related to frontend. Luckily, at Dynavox Group AB, I have a great team with people like Daphne Visser and Petra Cuturdic taking care of delivering nice bits to our users screens. But that's not always the case. More than once, in my private projects, I need to display information to the user, or maybe require some input from them. And I don't have the luxury to delegate these issues to others. That's where Blazor shines. It gives me the possibility to quickly create interfaces that are dynamic enough to appeal the users without asking me to spend too much of my time on an platform/ecosystem where I am definitely less productive. Will Blazor ever compete with React on being the engine of the next Facebook? Probably not, nor we should expect it to be. https://lnkd.in/dtpUb5tm

I finally managed to get my Home Assistant and ESPHome up and running. That's awesome. Now we need to involve #Azure somehow. But first we actually need another piece of hardware. We need to hook up a temperature sensor! Yeah, let's start there. Technologies used here is: ⭐ Home Assistant ⭐ ESPHome ⭐ Azure Event Hub ⭐ Azure Data Explorer ⭐ Kusto Query Language And I did learn a lot 🤓

Interesting talk from Lasse Fredslund at #codegarden on what is on the roadmap for Umbraco 15 and beyond. Block-level variants providing personalisation opportunities, client credentials for the content delivery and management APIs, and investigations into providing search abstractions. Further on the back office will see a new Library section, home to reusable global blocks and global tags, as well as more granular permissions settings for editors. The changes Umbraco have made in the latest version with the backoffice is impressive and you can see how this is a launch pad to allow for future improvements. Great State
